French collector of important antique tableware launches ‘tablescapes’ design/hire offering aimed at aspirational hosts

Hubert de Vinols, the renowned French interior architect and art collector, today announced the UK launch of Tables d’Exception in London. The announcement was made at a luncheon hosted by the French Ambassador to the UK and Madame Jean-Pierre Jouyet, for the CCFGB (Chambre de Commerce GB) Members and other guests, influential in the luxury and creative industries sector.

Tables d’Exception offers magnificent table settings for hire, designed by Hubert de Vinols using his extensive collection of fine and rare 18th and 19th century tableware. Vinols brainchild is aimed at affluent individuals and organisations wishing to entertain in a manner that evokes elegance and grandeur. Vinols’ creative eye combines his opulent antique porcelain dinner services, fine silver and glassware with sophisticated textures, often exotic materials and colours. Vinols’ is able to create his tablescapes’ for up to 100 guests.

For those that desire a full service that includes top-draw cooking and butling, Tables d’Exception can provide carefully selected chefs and ex Royal Household butlers trained to serve ‘à la française’. Vinols has kept a collection of his families historically interesting menus and these serve to inspire him when he creates beautifully hand-written menu cards for his clients.

Hubert de Vinols has had a passion for designing grand table settings ever since he inherited a large collection of important 18th and 19th century tableware from his historically interesting family. Over the years, he has steadily added to his collection, acquiring the finest pieces at auction, privately and from antique dealers around the world.

Vinols sees a gap in the UK market, which he feels tends to favour minimalism and drab colours. He commented ‘I suspect that white plates are preferred by catering companies because they want their culinary creations to be the star of the show rather than the plate it is presented on.’ ‘I wish for Tables d’Exception to enable a return to refined entertaining, where a beautiful setting inspires convivial discourse.’ said Hubert de Vinols. ‘Tables
d’Exception is the ‘Go To’ for generous hosts who want to entertain at the highest level, in the spirit of the Gilded Age and Belle Époque.’

Vinols extensive tableware collection comprises the ‘crème-de- la-crème’ of names in European luxury tableware including: Sèvres, Meissen, Creil et Montereau, Sarreguemines, Chantilly, Locré; Baccarat, Odiot, Daum and Saint-Louis. These combine with fine embossed silk and table linens; antique silver and silver-gilt candlesticks, menu stands, salt cellars, sugar casters and magnificent ornate centrepieces. It has rarely been possible to hire antique tableware, let alone have a table setting designed by a renowned collector and authority on the subject.

Hubert de Vinols interiors and restoration projects in chateaux and castles across France, Switzerland and Austria, demonstrate his design skills and refined eye. His work has been featured in leading luxury magazines including Interiors, World of Interiors, Elle Decor and Maison & Jardin.

Tables d’Exception also offers a home staging service; table designs for promotional events, film and television as well as Vinols curatorial, educational and acquisition services. The company operates in France, Switzerland and the UK. Commissioning fees are calculated on an individual basis.
