Embrace life and express yourself with a new boldness this season with LKB’s summer collection
A season of high jinks and high spirits, the summer mood is a playful one. It’s a time of your we all love – a time to live to the fullest, and LKB’s collection reflects this. We become drawn to lighter fabrics, brighter colours and conversational prints, as we move from month to month, getting braver and bolder. Each drop brings something to get excited about, from an eclectic mix of vintage and in-house prints to crisp, contemporary tailoring and Nineties-nostalgia utility pieces.
We begin the year having fun with newness despite the still-chilly temperatures, by building beautiful, layered looks, that not only provide warmth, but are a feast for the eyes, too. Styling this way makes the most out of our wardrobes, giving us a chance to wear what we love, all year round. It could be a lightweight turtleneck peeking out from under a silk shirt dress, a textured knit slouched over a PJ-inspired lounge set or a blouse slid beneath a sun dress that just isn’t ready for bare arms. A silk scarf does the same trick, bringing a little cosy and a lot of chic as spring turns to summer.
Bringing the extraordinary
Summer tailoring has a spirited feel and is destined for life beyond the 9-5. Dresses – of course there are of lots of great dresses – bring the extraordinary to the ordinary, no matter the day in question. In March, LK Bennett celebrated its fourth Royal Ascot collection, which welcomed a soft, wearable palette in florals, spots, tiers and frills. Yes, wear them to the races, but don’t limit their social life, they’re so much more than just fancy dresses.
Outside of invite season, there’s the signature LKB zest for colour and print. They don’t shy away from either, but among the oversized checks, graphic dip dye and reimagined florals, you’ll also find calmer, more androgynous pieces, including a fluid utility shirt dress and super-duper wide-leg jumpsuit in classic navy and khaki. They look especially good with LKB’s new apple leather handbags. And what will we be slipping on our feet? A medley of choice from Italy and Spain. Mary Janes and T-bars in colourful patent leather to block
heel snaffle courts, trainers and ballet pumps. Then when things really warm up, we’ll be wearing fisherman sandals by day and satin mules by night, along with raffia baskets and lucite box bags.
