Where Beauty Meets Innovation
Astrea London is redefining sustainable luxury, creating lab-grown diamonds that reflect the values of today’s socially conscious consumers
Since their official launch in April 2024, Astrea London has become the leading name in ethically-crafted jewellery with their exclusive collection of lab-grown diamonds. Trailblazing a revolution in the diamond industry, Astrea can create everything from timeless pieces to bespoke couture masterpieces, as recently seen on the red carpet.
Combining beautiful innovation with sustainability, the line offers consumers high-quality, eco-conscious alternatives to mined diamonds, certified to the Type II and Type IIa categories, as they redefine the high-end diamond industry for the modern age.
Only the top 1-2% of the world’s mined diamonds qualify for this level of brilliance and purity. Astrea bespoke statement creations are so ambitious and complex that crafting them from mined stones would be almost impossible.
Red carpet worthy
Named after the Greek goddess of justice, innocence, purity and precision, and adorned by the likes of supermodel Coco Rocha on the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival, founders Claire Ferrini and Nathalie Morrison have created a brand that has already become the primary source for contemporary finery and the go-to name for lab-grown diamonds.
With their legitimacy confirmed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in 2018 as identical in properties to mined diamonds, not synthetic, all of Astrea London’s colourless diamonds are D, E and F certified, making them the only company in the world today solely offering stones equivalent in quality to the top 1% of mined stones globally.
The diamond industry is undergoing significant changes, spurred by increasing awareness and evolving consumer preferences. With this, laboratory-grown diamonds are gaining a lot of traction, already constitution 18.4% of the global market, according to Netflix diamond documentary Nothing Lasts Forever.
According to Nathalie Morrison: “We believe that even by 2035, lab-grown stones will be leading the way for exceptional jewellery. Astrea London is committed to merging classic beauty with the innovation of our time, offering pieces that reflect the values of today’s conscious consumers without compromising on style or substance.”
Their premium stones are grown by a team of scientists using technology that mimics the natural diamond formation process, producing stones that diamond experts and gemologists are unable to tell apart from their mined counterparts. Utilising either high- pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) or chemical vapour deposition (CVD) methods, using a seed of mined diamond, conditions are recreated in which the jewels form beneath the Earth’s surface, producing diamonds over two to four weeks that are identical to mined ones in terms of physical and chemical properties. The result is a stunning series of collections, significantly more affordable and completely ethically traceable.
Create your own unique gem
The Eternal Collection includes elegant and superior diamond pieces, including tennis bracelets, stud earrings, and eternity rings, designed for everyday style, while The L’Amour Collection boasts an exclusive offering of timeless engagement rings and men’s jewellery. Astrea London is also the only brand offering a bespoke service, where their clientele can design their own stones to create a truly singular gem with no limitation on carat quality.
Astrea London’s approach not only reduces the environmental footprint but also offers a more transparent sourcing process, with their traceability and transparency providing peace of mind to those looking for socially conscious, 100% conflict-free luxury. Their rising market value is also enhancing their investment potential, with consumer attitudes veering towards responsible purchasing in the light of matters including environmental degradation and labour concerns.
“Astrea London brings a new dimension to the idea of luxury jewellery. Our customers enjoy the same stunning beauty and elegance of natural diamonds, knowing they are making a more sustainable choice,” says Claire Ferrini.
Taking inspiration from Claire’s grandmother, who gifted her with a lab-grown diamond trilogy pendant over 30 years ago and firmly believed in their ethical positioning, Claire and Nathalie developed their passion for the timeless jewels into a forerunning brand that has led the way since its inception.
A new jewel in Windsor’s crown
Astrea London has launched the first luxury hotel boutique in the world dedicated to sustainable diamonds. The stand-alone boutique – a treasure trove of innovative lab-grown diamond jewellery – is set within the magnificent entrance lobby of the luxurious English country retreat, Fairmont Windsor Park (right). The space sets a new global standard, as it will be the first store in the world located within a luxury hotel dedicated to sustainable and lab-grown diamonds.
Having recently opened in October, the boutique showcases Astrea’s ready-to-wear collections and engagement rings alongside highly innovative masterpieces.
Astrea London’s Nathalie Morrison and Claire Ferrini commented: “We are thrilled to open our first UK boutique in a location that represents the luxury, innovation and prestige of our brand. Fairmont Windsor Park, a heritage country estate transformed into a state-of-the-art, five-star retreat, reflects Astrea’s ethos perfectly. Inspired by one of the Earth’s oldest precious resources, our lab-grown diamond masterpieces represent the future of modern luxury: beauty, innovation, ultimate quality and, importantly, sustainability. Two worlds of contemporary elegance are now inextricably intertwined at Astrea London at Fairmont Windsor Park.”
Ryan Nicholls, General Manager of Fairmont Windsor Park, added: “We are delighted to welcome Astrea London to Fairmont Windsor Park. Their commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and modern luxury aligns seamlessly with the experience we offer our guests.”
Boutique splendour
Positioned in Fairmont Windsor Park’s glorious entrance lobby, Astrea London’s new 20 sqm space features warm, rich natural woods reflecting the aesthetic found throughout the great house. Modern metallic vitrines, lined with light and marshmallow soft cream suede, provide a refined contemporary showcase for the brilliance of the jewellery collections. Textured, linen walls provide a soft shimmer and tactile feel, contributing to the serenity of the ambiance. Bespoke consultations, for clients seeking personalised designs, are offered in a discreet area of the boutique.
Astrea London lab diamond jewellery can also be found at the prestigious Villa La Coste in the south of France.
Sparkling collection
The boutique showcases Astrea’s hero collections of laboratory-grown diamond pendants, bracelets, earrings and rings all crafted using only D, E & F colourless diamonds of VS1+ quality. A comprehensive range of exquisite engagement rings will also be available, with endless bespoke possibilities offered.
A highlight of the boutique will be the display of Astrea’s signature innovative masterpieces. The brand new Eternal Eight Necklace will be unveiled for the first time. A ground-breaking achievement in the world of lab-grown diamonds, this one-of-a-kind treasure is a versatile work of art which would be almost impossible to create with mined stones.
Able to be transformed to be worn an incredible eight different ways, the Eternal Eight features 455 calibrated lab-grown diamonds – of matching size, colour and clarity – all fully IGI certified – and has taken 14 skilled artisans and five expert cutters seven months to complete in the Astrea atelier.
