A deep dive into ecotourism
By collaborating with local communities and scientific organisations, Seas4Life ensure that the transformative power of tourism is felt beneath the waves

Julie Church, a passionate advocate for marine conservation, founded Seas4life with a singular vision to combine extraordinary ocean-based experiences with a commitment to conserving marine ecosystem. A marine conservationist by training, Julie has dedicated her career to safeguarding the world’s ocean. Her journey began in East Africa, where she spearheaded initiatives to protect coastal habitats and empower local communities on the border of Kenya and Somalia. Recognising the transformative power of tourism, she created Seas4Life to inspire travellers to explore the ocean while actively contributing to its conservation.
Seas4Life offers unparalleled luxury safaris across six breathtaking destinations: Kenya, Tanzania, Seychelles, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Mozambique. These journeys are tailored to immerse travellers in the wonders of the marine world, from swimming beside sea turtles in Kenya, snorkelling with whale sharks in Tanzania and Mozambique to learning about sharks in South Africa, and vibrant coral reefs in the Seychelles. At its core, Seas4Life is a platform for education and action, seamlessly blending luxury with purpose.

Founder of Seas4Life
Central to this mission is the Seas4Life Foundation, a non-profit arm dedicated to marine conservation and community empowerment. The foundation supports initiatives such as coral reef restoration, sea turtle protection, marine protected areas and sustainable fishing practices. By collaborating with local communities and scientific organisations, Seas4Life ensures every journey leaves a lasting positive impact. Sustainability is woven into the fabric of Seas4Life’s operations, from low-impact travel practices to supporting local economies through fair trade partnerships. For Julie, the ocean is a living entity to be protected for future generations.
Unparalleled expertise, tailored luxury
What sets Seas4Life apart is its ability to craft bespoke itineraries that seamlessly combine marine exploration with cultural experiences. With decades of knowledge and expertise, Julie and her team ensure that each journey offers a unique blend of luxury, education, and adventure. Seas4Life’s in-depth understanding of the destinations they operate in allows them to create encounters highlighting the marine environment and the rich cultural heritage of each location.
In Kenya, guests can embark on a traditional dhow sailing expedition, or have their own private villa, and explore the beautiful ecosystems along the coastline snorkelling with turtles and paddle-boarding alongside dolphins, learning about coral restoration as they go.

In Tanzania, explore the pristine waters of the Pemba, Zanzibar and Mafia Archipelagos while learning about efforts to protect the coastline, whale sharks and restore coral reefs. In Mozambique, delve into the pristine beautiful Bazaruto National Park, protecting acres of seagrass beds, and unique areas of corals. The Bazaruto National Park is home to the last viable population of dugong in Eastern Africa making work here essential. You can also spend time in beach paradise Tofo, enjoying close encounters with dolphins, manta rays, whale sharks. It’s where world-class diving meets eco-luxury villas and lodges
The Seychelles offers the opportunity to contribute to research on manta rays and sailfish. In Saudi Arabia, travellers can dive into the uncharted reefs of the Red Sea, a region renowned for its biodiversity and untouched beauty, and if you are lucky observe a variety of sharks. Meanwhile, South Africa combines thrilling marine safaris including the sardine run, humpback whale migration, learning about sharks including the great whites and orcas and diving off the Aliwal Shoal, Cape Town. This is coupled with land-based adventures, such as exploring the Cape Winelands or hiking up Table Mountain or inland safaris.

Seas4Life’s dedication to conservation is matched by its commitment to providing guests with seamless luxurious experiences. Each itinerary is meticulously planned, with personalised touches that cater to the preferences and interests of each traveller. From private yacht charters to exclusive access to conservation projects, Seas4Life ensures that every detail is taken care of. This bespoke approach elevates the travel experience and fosters a deeper connection to the destination.
Cultural integration is another hallmark of Seas4Life’s approach. Guests are encouraged to engage with local communities through curated experiences such as traditional sailing opportunities, guided heritage tours, and artisan workshops. These interactions provide a holistic understanding of the destination and reinforce the importance of preserving its cultural and natural heritage. For Seas4Life, luxury is not just about indulgence but about creating meaningful connections and leaving a positive impact.
Turning the tide
Marine conservation is at the heart of everything Seas4Life stands for. The ocean covers more than 70% of the planet’s surface and is home to an incredible diversity of life. As the American marine biologist and oceanographer Sylvia Earle says: “Even if you never have the chance to see or touch the ocean, the ocean touches you with every breath you take, every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume. Everyone, everywhere is inextricably connected to and utterly dependent upon the existence of the sea.”
For this reason, Julie is using travel to link the traveller to the ocean which is under increasing threat from overfishing, pollution, and climate change. Julie believes that by educating travellers and involving them in conservation efforts, we can turn the tide and protect the oceans’ vital ecosystems.

For Julie, the ocean is deeply personal: “The sea is vital to our lives, and has given me so much – inspiration, purpose, and a sense of wonder. It’s our responsibility to give back,” she says. Her passion is evident in every aspect of Seas4Life, from the carefully designed itineraries to the foundation’s impactful projects. Travellers are not just passive observers but active participants in conservation, whether by joining coral planting initiatives, contributing to citizen science projects, or supporting local communities that depend on the ocean.
Travelling with purpose has never been more important. By choosing operators like Seas4Life, travellers can make a tangible difference while enjoying life- changing experiences. The ocean is a shared resource, and its preservation requires collective effort. Julie’s vision is to create a global community of ocean advocates who understand the importance of, and commit to protecting marine ecosystems for future generations.
