Artist-led festive décor (Battersea & Hoxton)
Prepare to be amazed by an extraordinary Christmas tree, designed by the boundary-pushing artist Damaris Athene. Running from 5th December until the end of the year at art’otel London Hoxton, this jaw-dropping installation is far from traditional. Featuring gradient hues of yellow, orange, and pink, the tree comes alive with kiln-formed glass domes that reflect light, embodying a futuristic harmony between the digital and natural worlds. Inspired by Athene’s celebrated Fruiting_Bodies series, the installation blurs the lines between human, non-human and digital realms.
At art’otel London Battersea Power Station, locally based conceptual light artist and curator Alexa Muen will bring Londoners the Heart of Christmas Residency from 30th November to 4th January. The centrepiece will be the creation of an immersive space in the art’otel Studio featuring a new large-scale light-art commission, Heart of Christmas, using hundreds of tiny LED lights, along with paint and embroidery to create an ever-changing artwork. In addition to the light installations, Alexa will design a wall installation to be printed on canvas, themed around a Christmas tree, in art-deco style.
