Paul Mescal: The Rising Star Who Stole Gucci’s Heart
The Luxury Report are taking a look at Gucci’s new brand ambassador, Paul Mescal following on from him joining them late last year!
Paul Mescal, the Irish actor who rose to fame with his portrayal of Connell Waldron in the acclaimed TV adaptation of Normal People & is now starring in the highly anticipated film of the year “All Of Us Strangers”, with fellow actor Andrew Scott, has been announced as the new brand ambassador for Gucci. The 26-year-old star will join the likes of Harry Styles, Florence Welch, and Jared Leto in representing the Italian luxury fashion house.
Paul’s appointment as a Gucci ambassador comes as no surprise, as he has been spotted wearing the label’s clothes and accessories on several occasions, both on and off screen. He wore a Gucci suit to the Oscars, where he was nominated for Best Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie, and also sported a Gucci watch in the Hulu series The Deceived. He has also attended several Gucci events, such as the launch of the brand’s archival exhibition at London’s 180 The Strand, and the Gucci Cosmos evening, where he met the new creative director, Sabato De Sarno.
De Sarno, who took over from Alessandro Michele in January 2023, has praised Mescal as “a talented and charismatic actor, who embodies the spirit and values of Gucci”. He added that “Paul has a natural elegance and charm, and a unique sense of style that makes him stand out from the crowd”.
Mescal’s first campaign as a Gucci ambassador is for the 70th anniversary of the Horsebit 1953 loafer, a classic shoe that features a miniaturized horse bit on the leather upper. Mescal stars alongside Chinese actor and singer Xiao Zhan in a series of relaxed and candid portraits, showcasing the versatility and timeless appeal of the loafer. Mescal wears various outfits that range from casual to chic, such as a white T-shirt and black trousers, blue boxers and a trench coat, and a striped sweater and shorts.
